The Wayhaven Chronicles - Update 17.10.2025

The task I’ve been working on has taken allllll week. Which was unexpected but has turned out great in the end!

Definitely worth the effort!

I was coming to write the ball start, when the MC finally arrives and everything begins…then realized that I was SO excited to write the ball that even in the plan I forgot a super-duper important scene.

…The outfit choice.

Not sure how I could have forgotten that part. It meant the main character was apparently just going to turn up to the ball in their pjs, I guess, lol!

It wasn’t just the outfit either, but the mask—seeing as it’s a masquerade ball.

So, I went right back and then had to come up with lists and lists of outfits that would work before shortlisting a range of them to cover a broad array of styles. As much as I would love to have every style I could think of, there are obviously game limitations!

Then came the mess of how exactly I was going to present this in a narrative form instead of just making it a list of choices.

Along with the fact that—even shortlisted—there were a lot!

I wanted to have the choice of outfits all mixed up, but there were waaaay too many, so I ended up splitting it into the first choice of a suit or dress, then having the style of that type in the choice afterwards.

That broke it down into a more manageable way of having the choices. There are 9 styles of each type in the end.

But then I thought, ‘Oh, wouldn’t it be nice to actually describe what the outfit looks like in the gem choice the player made’. And yes, it is awesome, but oh boy…that meant doing 12 descriptions for each style choice.

And that has taken forever, lol!

Especially because I want the descriptions to give enough detail for those who struggle to imagine things clearly, but vague enough that those who want to can put their own design to what I’ve described. A seriously tough balance that I kept having to rework for a lot of them!

But it’s finally finished! I just did the last descriptions today!

Which means I can get back to the ball tomorrow, and the love interest can now have the appropriate reaction and comments to the style your character has chosen, hehe! ;D
